Martine Denoyelle

Martine Denoyelle (born before 1984) is a French classical archaeologist specializing in ancient ceramics.

Martine Denoyelle became a conservator in 1984 and was head of the Greek ceramics department at the Louvre in Paris from 1986 to 2008 . She was involved in several important exhibitions, about 1990 curated the exhibition Euphronios , peintre à Athènes au VIe siècle avant J.-C. ( Euphronios. Painter in Athens in the sixth century BC ) and in 2007, in conjunction with the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the exhibition The Eye of Josephine , in which Empress Joséphine's collection of antiquities was shown. From 1995 to 1998 she rearranged the rooms of the Campana collection in the Louvre. Since 2008 she has been a scientific advisor for ancient art history and the history of archeology at the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA) in Paris. In 2011/12 Denoyelle was a Getty Scholar .

Denoyelle researches proto-Italian ceramics, the history of style and iconography, as well as the history of the antique collections. However, her special focus is on research into red-figure vase painting . She belongs to the processing committee of the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum France and is an employee of the Groupe de recherche européen sur la céramique italiote (GRECI). In 2004 she started the History of Greek Vases program , which aims to create a database of ancient vases that were known between 1700 and 1850.
