The Maruseppu Forest Park Railway (Japanese:丸瀬布森林公園いこいの森鉄道, Maruseppu Shinrinkōen Ikoi no Mori tetsudō; English: Hokkaido Maruseppu Recreation Forest Park Railway) is a 1.5-kilometer-long museum - narrow-gauge railway in Engaru at Mombetsu in the sub-prefecture Okhotsk on the island of Hokkaidō ( Japan ).

Infrastructure

In the forest park south of Engaru, rails with a gauge of 762 mm (2 feet 6 inches ) were laid. In addition to the narrow-gauge railway, there is a local museum, the Marugosei thermal baths and a campsite.

Amemiya 21-go steam locomotive

The historic Amemiya 21-go steam locomotive , which was built in 1928 by Amemiya Manufacturing Co., Ltd. , runs in the forest park . had been made. It was previously used on the Burari Forest Railway near Monbetsu. It was listed as Hokkaido Heritage on October 22, 2004 and is now (2008) preserved in an operational state.

The 5-series Seibu steam locomotive 532 was manufactured by Orenstein & Koppel in Germany in 1928 . It was imported to Japan by the Seibu Railway in 1973 after being used by a Taiwanese sugar factory and used on the Yamaguchi Railway from 1977 to 1984. After the track had been re-tracked, it came to the Maruseppu Forest Park Railway in October 1993 with four Seibu type 31 passenger cars. It has been stored in the locomotive shed in a non-functional condition since 2014.

The steam locomotive E103 of the Japanese E-Class used to be exhibited there in an inoperable condition. It is now in the Frankfurt Feldbahnmuseum .

Diesel locomotive

Tsurui Municipal Railway diesel locomotive

There is a working six-ton ​​diesel locomotive from 1959. After the Tsurui Municipal Railway was abolished in 1967, the locomotive has been in use at the Kushiro plant in the city of Kushiro since 1989. It was acquired in 1996 and restored by Sapporo Transport Machinery.
