The Marx-Engels-Foundation e. V. is a political association in Germany. It was founded on November 28, 1970 and is based in Wuppertal . Politically he is close to the DKP , the majority of the members (around 40 in 2008) come from the DKP or other traditional Marxist-oriented associations.

Goals and projects

According to the statutes, the association sees its task in “researching the scientific work of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and its historical effectiveness - by collecting and researching their scientific legacy and their life and work; through scientific seminars, symposiums, colloquiums and other scientific events; through publications. "

The association co-organized the conference “Marxism for the 21st Century” from April 20-22, 2007 in Berlin. The association cooperates with the Marxist Evening Schools (MASCH) in a number of cities .

The chairman was Richard Kumpf (1922–2013) from 1970 to 2002. The association has been headed by Hermann Kopp (* 1943) since 2013. In 2008 it was financed from contributions from its approximately 40 members and from donations from a support company with around 500 people.

Publications

At irregular intervals, the association publishes volumes of protocols on events and monographs, especially on issues relating to the history of the labor movement. In 2008 the volume Contours of a Sustainable Marxism was published. The edited volumes with the contributions of the class analysis @ BRD project have been published by Neue Impulse Verlag Essen.
