Mary Ann Joyce-Walter

Mary Ann Joyce-Walter (* 1937 in Champaign-Urbana / Illinois ) is an American composer and music teacher.

Joyce studied at Fontbonne University and Washington University in St. Louis . Her teachers included Robert Wykes , Rosalyn Tureck , Paul Pisk, and Robert Baker . After completing her studies, she went to New York in 1974, where she worked as a professor of music at Manhattanville College .

Her main focus as a composer is in the field of vocal music. She received first prize at the Boston Art Song Competition and an ASCAPlus Award between 1999 and 2006 . Her compositions have been performed in the USA and at festivals in Europe and Russia. Joyce is u. a. Member of the International Alliance of Women Composers and Treasurer of the New York Women Composers .
