Mary M. White

Mary M. White (born October 7, 1944 in Dundalk , County Louth ) is an Irish politician and since 2002 Senator in the Seanad Éireann .

Mary White was born in Dundalk in 1944, the oldest of six children. She studied economics and political science at University College Dublin , where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree .

She then had a successful career as a businesswoman with the company Lir Chocolates, which she co-founded .

In July 2002, White was first elected to the Seanad Éireann. She was nominated by the Irish Exporters Association , of which she is also a member, and elected to the Senate for the field of "Industry and Finance". In July 2007 she was re-elected to the Senate for the field of “Industry and Finance”. White has been a member of the Fianna Fáil since 1983 . From 1993 to 1998 and since 2004 she has been a member of the party's executive committee.

In February 2008 she expressed her wish to run for president in 2011 for her party.

White is married and has one daughter.
