Masaaki Ueki

Masaaki Ueki (植 木 政 明, Ueki Masaaki ; born March 24, 1939 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese karateka and holder of the 10th Dan in Shōtōkan karate.

Masaaki Ueki learned karate from Sugiura Motokuni, among others, and graduated from the Asia University of Japan in Tokyo. He has been a member of the Japan Karate Association since 1961 .

As a karateka, he won several major titles. He won the JKA All-Japan Karate Championships in 1965, 1967, 1968, 1971, 1974 and 1975 in Kata and in 1968 in Kumite .

Today Ueki is the chief instructor of the JKA.

In 2019 Ueki received the 10th Dan, the highest distinction in karate. Thus he counted together with Hirokazu Kanazawa , Hiroshi Shirai and Teruyuki Okazaki to the only living carriers of the 10th Dan in Shōtōkan karate at that time.
