Martina Plura

Martina Plura (born December 12, 1985 in Neuwied ) is a German film director .

Life

Together with her twin sister Monika Plura , she made her first films at the age of eleven. After graduating from the Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium in Neuwied , she studied media arts at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts . This was followed by a year abroad in the feature film class of the Escuela Internacional de Ciné y Television in Cuba. A year later, her diploma film, the documentary Cuba Libre , was made in Cuba . From 2012 to 2014 she studied directing at the Hamburg Media School , which she completed with a Master of Arts .

In 2015 the film comedy Vorstadtrocker was released , her debut film as a director in the junior series Northern Lights on NDR . In 2017, the northern German western followed at 1pm . Then she directed the ZDFneo - sitcom Tanken - more than Super .

honors and awards

In 2011 Martina Plura was awarded the Johanna Loewenherz Scholarship together with her twin sister . The reason was summarized as “Monika and Martina Plura are women who study successfully in their field, take up women's issues in their films and do something special for women and girls with their voluntary work in Neuwied”. In 2015 her debut film was shown at the 37th Biberach Film Festival and received the television award there.
