The Masarykova chata (German: Masarykbaude ) is a by the Czech club of tourists (KCT) built mountain chalet on the Šerlich ( ski Erlich ) in the Eagle Mountains in the Czech Republic . The house, now privately managed as a mountain hotel, is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
location
The Masarykova chata is located above the Šerlich Pass in the northern part of the Eagle Mountains at an altitude of about 1000 meters. The well-equipped restaurant enables larger groups of guests to be fed, both in the hut and on the terrace and the open spaces offered.
history
The mine was built after the establishment of Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and named after its president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk . The architect of the building was Bohuslav Fuchs .
The foundation stone was laid on June 14, 1924 in the presence of the chairman of the Czechoslovak Tourist Club, Jiří Guth-Jarkovský. A metal box with historical documents was built into the foundations of the hut. The building block and building material were made in the sawmill of the Schierlich Mill (Šerlišský Mlyn). In 1935 a weather station was set up in the hut.
Accesses
The hut is integrated via several marked hiking trails. The Jirásek long-distance hiking trail, which crosses most of the peaks of the Eagle Mountains, runs through the hut. The Masarykova chata can be reached by bike on a well-developed asphalt road. The Šerlich Pass with parking is around 15 minutes away. The ski slopes of the Polish ski area of the Zieliec ski area lead right up to the chalet .
