Massimo Pupillo (born July 1929 in Rodi Garganico ) is an Italian screenwriter , film producer and film director .

Life

Pupillo spent some time during the Second World War on the partisan side in France, where he was later able to gain his first experience as an assistant director. He began working independently as a filmmaker at the end of the 1950s as a documentarist. In addition, he was responsible for a television film in 1961 and shortly afterwards for medium-length children's films. In addition to scripts for genre films by other directors, Pupillo shot a number of purely commercial works between 1964 and 1969, most of which he drew as Max Hunter . In the course of the years, his Scarletto - Castle of the Blood , created in 1965, achieved cult status as an example of trashy horror. In the 1970s and 1980s, Pupillo worked for television; so for Rai 3 , for whom he made films for educational work.

Pupillo has been married to Paulette Farjon since 1959. His son Massimo is a successful musician.
