MasterCraft is a motor boat manufacturer based in Vonore , Tennessee , USA . The company is the market leader for boats in the water ski and wakeboard sector . It sells boats in more than 30 countries and employs over 120 dealers in the US and internationally.
history
MasterCraft was founded in 1968. The owners developed the first water ski boat out of their dissatisfaction with the available boats in a horse stable in Maryville , Tennessee . In the first year of existence, only twelve boats were made.
Today, over 40 years later, thousands of boats for water skiing, wakeboarding and the luxury segment are produced and sold year after year. Mastercraft has a production facility in Vonore, Tennessee, which employs over 560 people.
In 2007 Mastercraft was taken over by financial investors . At the beginning of 2010, Hydra-Sports was acquired, and production could begin at the end of October 2010.

Trivia
In 2007 the athlete Freddy Krueger set the world record in water ski long jump (74 m / 243 ' ) behind a Mastercraft ProStar 197.
The Mastercraft MariStar 280 VLD was named Boat of the Year 2004 by Boating Magazine .
