Matías Cartagena , full name Matías Cartagena Laxalt , (born September 8, 1988 ) is a Uruguayan football player .

The 1.77-meter-tall offensive player has been in the squad of the Uruguayan first division club Rampla Juniors at least since the 2009/10 season . There he played two games in the Primera División in that and the following season . At the end of September he then joined the second division club Huracán FC . For the 2012/13 season he moved back to the top Uruguayan league to El Tanque Sisley and made his debut there on August 26, 2012 in the 1: 2 away win on the first game day against Central Español for his new employer. By the end of the season he played six first division matches. After the season, his departure was announced, but his new employer was not yet certain. In September 2013, he then joined the traditional Uruguayan club Albion Football Club, which played in the amateur league . From there he returned to Huracán FC in early February 2014, where he played eight second division games and scored one goal. In August 2014, he moved within the Segunda División to Club Atlético Torque , for which he appeared 25 times in the league in the 2014/15 season and scored one goal. In the Apertura 2015 he played seven league games (no goal). At the end of February 2016, he returned to Huracán FC within the league, where he played eleven second division games (no goal) by the end of the season.
