Mataʻafa Mulinuʻu II.

Fiame Mataʻafa Faumuina Mulinuʻu II (born August 5, 1921 in Lotofaga, Upolu Island, Samoa , † May 20, 1975 in Leprosy, Upolu Island) was a politician and two-time Prime Minister of Western Samoa .

He came from one of the royal families of Samoa, held the title of chief "Mata'afa" and, because of his origins, had a seat in parliament.

Mulinu'u was born on October 1, 1959 Prime Minister of the still of New Zealand managed UN Trust Territory of Western Samoa. On January 1, 1962, he led this into the independent state of Western Samoa and was thus one of the "fathers" of the constitution. In February 1970, Tupua Tamasese Lealofi IV succeeded him as Prime Minister.

In March 1973 he replaced Lealofi as Prime Minister and held this office until his death.

His daughter Fiame Naomi was appointed first female minister by Prime Minister Tofilau Eti Alesana in May 1991 .
