Michał Matczak (born July 14, 2000 in Warsaw , Poland ), known by his stage name Mata , is a Polish rapper and hip-hopper . He became famous in autumn 2019. His text Patointeligencja and the album 100 dni do matury (100 days to graduation ) revolve around the lives of children and young people from good families. In the internet vote for “Warsaw of the Year 2019”, he came first in front of the “singing mother-in-law ” Beata Łubczonek (Teściowa Śpiewa) and the conductor Ewa Jurkiewicz.

Life

Michał Matczak is the son of the English teacher Arletta Śliwińska-Matczak and the law professor Marcin Matczak , who criticized the Polish government for interfering with the independence of the judiciary .

Mata graduated from a bilingual elite school in his hometown in 2019. His lyrics Patointeligencja deal with the life of rich high school students with sex, drugs and porn films in schools like this. It went viral in a short time and has been viewed more than 25.5 million times on YouTube since December 11, 2019 (as of March 5, 2020). Mata also has high growth rates in the Spotify streaming service .

Patointeligencja was the subject of controversy in the Polish public shortly after its appearance and featured in two excerpts on TVP's main evening news program . The journalist Małgorzata Halber describes the song as “the best Polish cultural text she has heard in a long time”.
