Matancillas de San Antonio (also simply Matancillas ) is a small village in northwestern Argentina . It belongs to the department of Iruya in the province of Salta and is located at an altitude of 1520 m on the Iruya River , about 40 km from the village of Iruya .
The climate in Matancillas is subtropical.
The village has a school with about 55 pupils, an infirmary and a chapel.
