Millerolle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The mill roll was a French liquid measure for oil and wine that was used in Marseille . In practice, there was a small difference in volume in the measure for wine compared to when it was used as an oil measure . It was:

  • Wine 1 Millerolle = 4 Escandeaux = 60 Pots = 240 Quarts / Pichounes = 64.364 liters (3010 Parisian cubic inches = 59 ⅔ liters)
  • 1 Escandal / Escandeau = 15.9245 liters
  • 1 Miller roll = 4 × 15.9245 liters = 63.6982 liters
  • Oil 1 Millerole = 4 Escandeaux = 160 Quarterons = 58.75 liters (= 3223 ⅔ Parisian cubic inches = 63 ½ liters)

In practice, the value for 1 mill roll for wine was set at 63.4 liters and for oil at 64 liters.

  • 1 load = 28 milleroles

When oil was sold by weight, 1 mill roll was between 58 and 59 kilograms . In Tunis , the local measure of measure Mettar / Mattaro / Metallo / Miter was often replaced by the French measure of wine. When converting from Wein-Mattaro, 1 Millerolle was equal to 6.5 Mattaro, for oil it was 3.5 Mattaro.

When compared with the Castilian measure of arroba , 1 mill roll had 5 ¼ arrobas.
