Matenrō Opera ( Japanese 摩天 楼 オ ペ ラ . Lit. "Skyscraper Opera") are a visual kei band from Japan, founded in 2007 .
Band history
Matenrō Opera was founded in 2007 by Sono (singer) and Yuu (drummer). Both were previously members of the band Jeniva . On May 4, the first single was released alkaloid Showcase at Laban Office A to Z . On the same day they played their first concert. The single was sold out before the concert started.
At the end of 2007, keyboardist Karen and guitarist Mika left the band and were replaced by Ayame (ex- Ry: dia ) and Anzi.
After joining the record label Sherow Artist Society in 2008 , the single Ruri Iro de Egaku Niji made it to number 11 on the Oricon Indies Charts . The EP Gilia made it to number 7 and was also released in Europe.
Matenrō Opera toured Europe together with Versailles from late March to early April 2008.
In July 2009 the band started a tour in Japan together with the group Deluhi .
In 2011 the band was allowed to participate in the compilation Crush! -90's V-Rock Best Hit Cover Song- Covering the song Kurenai from X Japan . The compilation was released on January 26th and included covers of songs that were authoritative for visual kei in the 90s.
