Mathematical linguistics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mathematical linguistics is a collective name for the linguistic disciplines and methods that use mathematical processes. This is done partly to specify the description of language structures and developments, but also to use the possibilities of mathematics so that mathematical processes can be used for different purposes such as the modeling of linguistic systems and the development and testing of legal hypotheses. Last but not least, the formalization of linguistic knowledge necessary for automatic language processing with computers takes place within the framework of mathematical linguistics.
