The Sjernarøyane (also called "Fisterøyane") are a group of islands west of the island of Ombo in southern Norway . They belonged to the municipality of Stavanger in the province of Rogaland . The islands of Aubø, Bjergøy, Helgøy, Kyrkjøy, Nord-Hidle, Nord-Talgje and Tjul formed the municipality of Sjernarøy between 1868 and 1965 .

Early living spaces were found on Bjergøy (mountain island) and at Judaberg on Finnøy .

Three menhirs were found on the island of Nord-Hidle, which is only 1.5 km² in size . Two of the phallic stones from the Bronze Age are in the Stavanger Archaeological Museum of Stavanger , the third is still on North Hidle. It was supposed to be dismantled during the German occupation and transported to Germany, but was covered with dung by farmers and thus withdrawn from mining. The menhir is labeled with instructions for the coexistence of men and women and is explained during an erotic island tour.

The Talgje Church, built of granite gneiss , stands on North Talgje . The corners of this whitewashed stone church are made of hewn soapstone . The date of construction is assumed to be between 1130 and 1150. The church has a rectangular nave and a square choir with a brick vault.
