Mathias Auctus

Mathias (Nicolai) Auctus (actually Maciej Przybyło ; * before 1490 in Krakow ; † May 16, 1543 in Breslau ) was a humanist and city ​​physician in Breslau.

He studied in Cracow from 1503 and received his master's degree in 1510 . From 1531/32 he was in Breslau. Auctus was in contact with Johannes a Lasco , Nicolaus Oláh and Philipp Melanchthon and emerged as a promoter of Protestantism in Breslau.

On October 16, 1531 he and his brother Gregor received the coat of arms letter in the nobility and the permission to write from Nieskorow . In 1542 he wrote the first Pest Ordinance in Wroclaw.

He was buried in the Maria Magdalenakirche in Wroclaw . A tomb commemorated him.
