Life

Mathias Christiansen has been an author for a long time, has published numerous books and worked for various newspapers. In 2002, his first crime novel, “The Third Error”, was published about the Berlin chief detective Werner Brodersen. In the spring of 2004, the book was named "Crime of the Week" by ZDF. This was followed by “The Thin Line” (2003), “The False Enemy” (2004) and finally “Death on the Border” (2008). Mathias Christiansen's thrillers primarily take place in actual locations in Berlin (street names and other locations in the novels are all authentic) and therefore have a strong regional connection. In autumn 2004 “The Secret of the Old Train Station” was also published - a children's crime thriller that also mixes regional locations with a fictional story. In the course of the expanding audio book market, “The Third Error” and “The Thin Line” were published in 2006 and “The Secret of the Old Train Station” in 2008 as audio books by “TechniSat / Radioropa”.

Mathias Christiansen lives in Berlin.

The figure of Commissioner Brodersen

Werner Brodersen is the fictional main character in the crime novels by Mathias Christiansen. The grumpy but sharp-thinking chief detective works at the Berlin State Criminal Police Office and lives in the Berlin district of Pankow-Heinersdorf . The character goes through a progressive development in all novels, starting with “The Third Mistake”. In this way Christiansen closely connects the resolution of the crimes with the biography of the protagonist. The figure of Werner Brodersen has a high potential for identification: He is not only the commissioner who develops with self-discipline that borders on self-sacrifice and despite all the successes in clarification, he is also the person next door who is in the middle of life and who faces the challenges of everyday life create like many others.
