Mathias Kräutler
Mathias Kräutler (born May 2, 1895 in Vienna , † September 8, 1965 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian officer, most recently major general in World War II .
Life
Kräutler served as an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army in the First World War after attending the Theresian Military Academy . After the war he was accepted into the armed forces.
After the annexation of Austria on March 15, 1938, he was accepted into the mountain troops of the German armed forces . During the Second World War, Kräutler served in various positions and, among other things, led the 9th Mountain Division (North) as commander in the last days of the war .
He was held in British captivity until 1947, including in the " Island Farm " camp.
