Matrix circuit is a name for two basic electronic circuits .

On the one hand, a matrix circuit is an electronic process in order to be able to control several consumers or sensors with a few electronic switches . It is used, for example, when controlling LEDs or querying the keys in computer keyboards .

For the matrix circuit, the individual elements are electrically arranged in columns and rows and, for example, all positive poles of the loads are connected in rows, while all negative poles are connected in columns. As soon as a certain column and a certain row are connected to the supply voltage, current begins to flow through the consumer, which lies at the intersection of the connected row and column. If several consumers are to be switched on, the activation can take place sufficiently quickly one after the other. Possibly. the consumers are buffered to ensure continuous operation of the consumer. In many cases, continuous operation is foregone if intermittent operation is sufficient; For example, in the case of LED displays, the sluggishness of the human eye is sufficient to leave a continuous visual impression on the viewer.
