Matthew Rhys "Matt" Holland (born April 11, 1974 in Bury ) is a former Irish football player .

Career

The central midfielder began his career in West Ham United's youth before joining the first team in 1992. From 1995 to 1997 Holland played at AFC Bournemouth . In 1997 he moved to Ipswich Town . From 2003 to 2009 he was under contract with Charlton Athletic . After his contract with Charlton was not renewed, he trained at Colchester United, which were not interested in a commitment, which is why Holland has been without a club since then. Holland announced its retirement from the Irish national team in 2005 due to the failure of the national team in the 2006 World Cup qualification for Germany .

Holland played 49 times for the Irish national football team .
