The Matthäuskirche is a brick church in Hamburg-Winterhude built between 1910 and 1912 by the Hamburg builder Julius Faulwasser in neo-baroque style . The church in Gottschedstrasse, along with the Heilandskirche (Winterhuder Weg) and the Bodelschwinghkirche (Forsmannstrasse), belongs to the parish of Hamburg- Winterhude-Uhlenhorst in the Hamburg-Ost parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

From 1961 to 1971 the colored window work that characterizes the church interior was created by Charles Crodel , who also created the colored glass windows of the main church St. Jacobi and St. Marien in Fuhlsbüttel.
