Matthew J. Costello

Matthew J. Costello (* 1948 ) is an American author and co-author of numerous novels and non-fictional writings. His articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times and Sports Illustrated .

He wrote the backstory for some computer games, including the hit game Doom 3 by id Software , and he later processed his ideas in his novel Doom 3: Worlds on Fire , which is the first part of a trilogy.

His novel Beneath Still Waters , published in 1989, was filmed in 2005 by Brian Yuzna .

Together with F. Paul Wilson he wrote the television series FTL Newsfeed , a fictional news program from the year 2142, which was broadcast daily as a 30 second spot on SciFi Channel from 1992 to 1996.
