Matthias Dietz

Matthias Dietz (* 1957 ) is a German designer . He studied industrial design at the University of the Arts in Berlin with Hans Roericht and at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg with Dieter Rams .

Life

Dietz became known in particular through his exhibition SED Beautiful Unit Design, first shown in 1989, about the design of everyday objects in the GDR. He organized various exhibitions on design and wrote various books on the subject, including a. acted as editor for Leonard Koren's book Wabi Sabi in German. From 1995 to 2000 he was Head of Communications at ERCO Leuchten, Lüdenscheid. Since 2002 he has headed the corporate design agency Schindler Parent Identity in Berlin, which was renamed Realgestalt GmbH in 2011. His grandfather was the entrepreneur and Bauhaus patron Heinrich König . His father was the entrepreneur and scientist Albrecht Dietz .
