Albrecht Dietz (born March 11, 1926 in Dresden ; † March 21, 2012 in Bergen-Enkheim ) was a German entrepreneur and scientist, he published on business topics such as leasing , corporate management , institutional and evolutionary economics .

Life

Albrecht Dietz was born as the son of the businessman and inventor Albert Dietz and the educator Lydia Dietz. In 1944 he graduated from the Dresden Business School and studied economics and law, first at the TH Dresden , after the bombing of Dresden in 1945 at the University of Jena , where he graduated in 1947 with a degree in business administration. In 1948 he became Erich Gutenberg's research assistant at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . There he received his doctorate in 1949 with a thesis on "The Theory of Overhead Costs ".

In 1949 Dietz started as an auditor for Deutsche Revisions- und Treuhand AG in Frankfurt am Main. From 1953 he had various activities in the office machine industry as head of finance u. Accounting of the German Olivetti AG , sales manager of Anker-Werke AG and managing director of Deutsche Underwood GmbH. In 1962 the founding and managing partner of Maschinen Miet GmbH took place, which together with Deutsche Leasing GmbH was the first movables leasing company in 1962. Dietz was the founder and pioneer of a successful industry. In 1971 the leasing pioneers Deutsche Leasing GmbH, Maschinen-Miet GmbH and Mietdienst GmbH merged to form Deutsche Leasing AG , whose CEO Albrecht Dietz was then from 1971 to 1991. He also worked as President of the Federal Association of German Leasing Companies and was instrumental in drawing up the leasing decrees in the early 1970s. These are still the legal basis of leasing contracts today. For several years he was also a member of the board of directors of the Association of European Leasing Companies, Leaseurope. Albrecht Dietz was co-editor of the "Journal for the Entire Credit System - ZfgK" (compulsory sheet of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange).

Since 1982 he has been teaching and researching topics in the leasing industry, corporate management and institutional economics. From 1988 he was an active guest participant in the international research seminars of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Economic Systems (today “Max Planck Institute for Economics”) in Jena . Since 1990 he has been an honorary professor at the Faculty of Economics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Albrecht Dietz was married to Elisabeth König and had three children: Micaela Grohé, Matthias Dietz and Simone Dietz .
