Matthias Engisch

Matthias Engisch (* 1969 ) is a former German football player .

career

Engisch played for the Mannheim Redskins and the Hanau Hawks before joining the Braunschweig Lions in 1998 . The player on the offensive line , measuring 1.88 meters and weighing 145 kilograms, was in the Braunschweig Bundesliga squad until 2005, but in 2004 he had to pause due to an operation following an arm injury. He became German champions with Lower Saxony in 1998, 1999 and 2005. He won the Eurobowl with Braunschweig in 1999 and 2003. Four more times (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003) he was in the final of the German championship, but had to bow to the opponent together with his colleagues. With the German national team, Engisch finished second at the 2000 European Championships.

As a member of the Braunschweig coaching staff, he oversaw the offensive line and was then responsible for coordinating the attacking game, and in the 2010 season he was head coach. In 2011 he switched back to the post of assistant coach for the offensive line.
