Mattia Binotto (born November 3, 1969 in Lausanne , Switzerland ) is a Swiss - Italian engineer and team manager at Scuderia Ferrari .

biography

Binotto graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1994 and obtained a master's degree in automotive engineering from DIEF (Department of Engineering “Enzo Ferrari”) in Modena .

In 1995 he joined the Scuderia Ferrari test team as an engine engineer, and from 1997 to 2003 he worked in the same position in the racing team. In 2004, Binotto was appointed a racing engineer, and in 2007 he took on the role of chief engineer.

Since October 2013 he was deputy head of the engine and electronics division. In 2014, Sergio Marchionne promoted him to the position of Head of the Engines division.

On July 27, 2016, he was promoted to Technical Director of Ferrari, taking over from James Allison .

On January 7, 2019, he was appointed team manager at Scuderia Ferrari to succeed Maurizio Arrivabene with immediate effect.
