Matucana (band)

Matucana is a Chilean-German jazz formation. The musical style of the band combines Andes - folk with jazzy improvisation .

The group, founded in 1996, had its breakthrough in 1999 at the Leverkusen Jazz Days and has since performed at numerous festivals.

In addition to the two founders, Pablo Paredes (piano) and Sergio Terán (flutes, saxophone), André Nendza (bass) and Uli Krämer (drums) have been part of the band since 1997 . The group has repeatedly worked with other musicians on their CDs, but also in concerts. Particularly noteworthy here are: Charlie Mariano (saxophone), Alex Acuña (percussion) and Quique Sinesi, an Argentinian guitarist and charango player known through his collaboration with Dino Saluzzi .
