The Maud Rise is a submarine plateau in the Lasarev Sea off the Princess Martha Coast of Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . The plateau is immediately south of the Maud Seamount .

The designation, which the Advisory Committee for Undersea Features recognized in June 1987, was based on that of Queen Maud Land. Its namesake is Maud of Great Britain and Ireland (1869-1938), wife of Haakon VII and the first queen of the Kingdom of Norway, which has been independent since 1905 .
