Masonry drill
Masonry drills were in ancient times under the name terebra and in the Middle Ages under the name Tarant, fox or cancer known siege engines .
A masonry drill consisted of a tree about 15 m long with a sharp pointed drill at the front. With the help of a rope wound in a channel, the tree was turned and at the same time pulled forward in order to penetrate the joints of walls and open them. After loosening the stones in the masonry, it was easier to attack the wall of the fortress or fortification.
