Maurício de Oliveira (dancer)

Maurício de Oliveira is a Brazilian ballet dancer and choreographer .

De Oliveira was a dancer in the ballet of the city of São Paulo (1989 to 1992) and the Teatro Castro Alves-Salvador (1993). From 1994 to 1996 he was a member of Johann Kresnik's ensemble at the Volksbühne Berlin . In 1997 he was a member of the Jazzex group in The Hague, and from 1999 to 2003 he was a member of William Forsythe's Frankfurt Ballet . He also worked for six months with Amanda Miller's Pretty Ugly Dance Company .

For the Ca-dance Festival in The Hague he choreographed Fabbrica with the Frankfurt Ballet and the Korzo-Theater in the 2002/2003 season . Further choreographic works of this time were No (mad) for the Four Steps Foward festival in The Hague (2003) and Orbital Cavities for the group of Krisztina de Chatel (2004). In 2005 de Oliveira returned to Brazil and founded the Siameses ballet group there .

For the Siameses he created several choreographies, including Jardim Noturno (2005) and Olhar Oblíquo for the Festival Dança in the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (2006). Khaos was written for the Ballet da Cidade de São Paulo in 2007 , and he worked on the piece Polígono with Alessio Silvestrin . In 2008 he was choreographed by Dana Caspersen at The Mythic Radio Theater of the Forsythe Company . In 2010 Os Duplos was created for the São Paulo Companhia de Dança , and he received the award for the best ballet production of the year from the magazine Folha de São Paulo .
