Maurice Lecat

Maurice Marie Albert Lecat (born May 18, 1884 in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode , † October 5, 1951 in Ukkel ) was a Belgian mathematician, philosopher and chemist.

He was at the University of Leuven. Between the two world wars he was very active as a pacifist in Belgium, where he also came into contact with Albert Einstein .

He worked for the French edition of the Encyclopedia of Mathematical Sciences , in which he edited the article calculus of variations. He has published various books, including extensive bibliographies (including on the theory of relativity and the calculus of variations), on determinants, Maurice Maeterlinck and a book in which the errors of mathematicians are listed.
