Maurice Lemaître
Maurice Lemaître (born April 23, 1926 in Paris ; † July 2, 2018 ) was a French author , film director and representative of Lettrism .
life and work
Maurice Lemaître worked as a poet, painter, photographer, as one of the pioneers of international experimental film and philosopher. He is the creator of Syncinéma and co-founder of the École lettriste de l'écran / Lettrist school of the canvas. Maurice Lemaître worked repeatedly with Isidore Isou since 1949 .
His works have been shown internationally, including at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in the Center Georges Pompidou and at documenta 8 .
The best-known film by Maurice Lemaître is Le film est déjà commencé? from 1951, which is considered one of the most important works of lettrist cinema and has a direct and indirect influence on the Nouvelle Vague as well as on today's avant-garde.
