Jörn Michaely (* 1. October 1994 in Saarbrücken ) is a German short film - director and founder of the German festival of young film .

Life

At the age of 16, Michaely received the award for best director and best newcomer film at the World Film Festival of the Union Internationale du Cinéma 2013 in Austria for his first short film, " Weißer Kragen ", which he directed .

His short film “Leon lies” received media attention at the Saarbrücken film festival Max Ophüls Preis because Michaely, at the age of 19, was the youngest director to present his film at the 2014 festival. His film “Helldunkel” was shot in mid-2015 and is cast with Silvia Bervingas and Jürgen Haug . With this film he won the main prize at the Bundes.Festival.Film in Mainz.

Michaely has been studying media art at the Saarbrücken University of Fine Arts since 2016 . As part of his studies, he shot the documentary “What I know about myself” by Saarbrücken director Nora Mazurek as a cameraman. In 2018 he founded the Federal Festival of Young Film in St. Ingbert , which he has been artistic director since then. With prizes worth 20,000 euros, it is one of the largest German-speaking short film festivals for young talent.
