Maurice Magendie
Maurice Magendie (* 1884 ; † 1944 ) was a French Romance studies and literary scholar.
life and work
Magendie completed his habilitation with the theses La politesse mondaine et les théories de l'honnêteté, en France au XVIIe siècle, de 1600 à 1660 (Paris 1925, Geneva 1970, 1979, 1993) and (ed.) Nicolas Faret , L'Honneste Homme ou l'Art de plaire à la Court (Paris 1925, 1932, Geneva 1970, 2011). Magendie taught at the University of Strasbourg . He was murdered by the National Socialists and is one of the authors who are immortalized in the Paris Pantheon as "Ecrivains morts pour la France".
