Maurice Molho

Maurice Molho (born July 17, 1922 in Constantinople , † June 17, 1995 in Paris ) was a French Romanist , Hispanic and Catalanist .

life and work

Molho attended the Lycée Carnot in Paris from 1932 to 1940. He studied in Paris with Pierre Fouché and Gustave Guillaume , as well as in Madrid. He received his doctorate in 1954 from the University of Madrid with Rafael Lapesa with the thesis Edición y estudio del Fuero de Jaca and taught at the University of Bordeaux from 1960 and at the University of Limoges from 1969 . In 1971 he completed his habilitation at the Sorbonne with the thesis Sistemática del verbo español. Aspectos, modos, tiempos (2 vols., Madrid 1975) and became professor of Spanish there in 1972. From 1977 to 1980 he was also the first director of the Center for Catalan Studies.
