The Max-Beer-Straße is a street in the Berlin district of Mitte .

history

The road was built in the 17th century as dragoons alley created and given this name because they face the dragoon Bastion was the fortress where the Derfflinger - Dragoons were stationed. It has been called Dragonerstrasse since the 18th century .

In 1916, on the initiative of Siegfried Lehmann, the Jewish People's Home was opened at today's Max-Beer-Straße 5 (previously: Dragonerstraße 22) , which existed until the end of the 1920s (see web links).

On May 31, 1951, it was named after the editor and historian Max Beer .

The street runs parallel to Alten Schönhauser Straße and, like this one, houses some flagship stores of smaller and larger fashion labels .
