Max Planck Grammar School in Ludwigshafen
The Max-Planck-Gymnasium is a high school in Ludwigshafen am Rhein .
history
The Max-Planck-Gymnasium was built in 1925 on the former Rupprechtstrasse in the Friesenheim district (today Leuschnerstrasse 121) as the Oberrealschule Leuschnerstrasse .
In 1939/40 an upper secondary school with an upper level was housed in the building. Towards the end of the war, the building was badly damaged. After the war, the “Leuschnerstrasse Natural Science School” was housed there from 1950/1951.
Reconstruction of the building did not begin until 1956, the main building was completed in 1962 and the assembly of the auditorium began. After the school had finally been completely rebuilt, it was initially named “Staatl. Modern language and math. Gymnasium Leuschnerstraße ”, before it was finally named after the famous physicist Max Planck and thus received the name“ Max-Planck-Gymnasium ”.
In 2000, Helmut Kohl, a prominent student at the school, celebrated his 50-year Abitur with his classmates.
