Frank Winkler (born July 16, 1962 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a former German volleyball player .

Frank Winkler began playing volleyball at the local clubs ESV Ludwigshafen, VBC Ludwigshafen, TSG Wiesloch and ESV Mannheim . In 1981 he moved to the Bundesliga club USC Giessen , where he became German champion alongside Burkhard Sude in 1982 and 1983 and even won the double the following year. He then moved to IBIS Kortrijk in Belgium and became Belgian champion in 1985. He then returned to Germany and played first at VBC Paderborn and then at SC Fortuna Bonn, with whom he again won the DVV Cup in 1987 . From 1990 he played in the successful team of Moerser SC at the side of Georg Grozer and became German champion in 1992 and German cup winner in 1991 and 1993 . Frank Winkler ended his career after two years at Post Telekom Berlin .

Frank Winkler had the hardest attack in the Bundesliga. In the rankings of German volleyball he achieved top positions in the categories “serve”, “block” and “attack” for many years. He played 136 times in the German national team .

Today Frank Winkler works as a commentator for various TV channels, mainly Eurosport .
