Burkhard Sude (born August 18, 1957 in Vöhl Dorfitter / North Hesse) is a former German volleyball player .
Sude is a former German national volleyball player, known as "Mister Volleyball"; In the league he also played football for VfB 1900 Giessen. In the eighties Sude was the best German volleyball player and led USC Giessen to the German championship in 1982, 1983 and 1984 and to the German Cup in 1984 . From 1980 to 1984 he was voted volleyball player of the year five times in a row . He played 203 times for the German national team .
In addition, Sude was one of the first beach volleyball players in Europe and in 1984 he and his Yugoslav partner Wladimir Bogojewski were one of the first foreigners to take part in the Hermosa Open and the Boulder Open in the USA. In 1995 he was German runner-up in beach volleyball with Holger Werner .
He then became national beach volleyball coach and, as an Olympic coach, supervised the national beach teams at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney, winning the bronze medal from Ahmann / Hager as one of the highlights in the history of German volleyball.
In 1982 Mr. Volleyball competed alone against an association league team in “Wetten, dass ...?” And won 6: 3 after 5 minutes and thus the bet.
The 203-time national player studied sport and Russian and then dentistry. Before studying dentistry, he was the first German volleyball player to play in the highest Italian league (A1) with Kutiba Falconara, after studying in Montpellier, France. With both clubs he achieved participation in European competitions. In 2009, at the age of 52, he successfully helped the “Wuppertal Titans”, who was in distress due to injuries, to prevent relegation in the 1st Bundesliga. After graduating, he settled in Neukirch b. Tettnang as a dentist.
He also coached several volleyball teams and his daughter Julia Sude , who u. a. by winning the U20 European Championship, the U20 Vice World Championship, he played beach volleyball very successfully even as a junior. In 2010 she became German champion in Timmendorfer Strand. His son Jakob Sude plays tennis and trains him in the athletic field. Jakob Sude became German champion in singles and doubles in 2007. Both children are listed in the current world rankings for their sport.
Burkhard Sude is not related to Ulrich Sude , who was active as a soccer goalkeeper in the 1st Bundesliga.
