Max Hofmeister

Max Hofmeister (born March 22, 1913 ; † April 12, 2000 ) was an Austrian football player . The runner won the silver medal with the Austrian amateur selection at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin .

Career

Max Hofmeister played at WSV Donawitz in the Styrian national league. At that time the league was aimed at amateur players and was not connected to the professional Austrian championship, which at the time was limited to the Vienna area. With the Montanstädtern, however, the runner mostly had to admit defeat to the Graz teams in the championship. From trainer Jimmy Hoganhe was nevertheless taken to the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, although he had not yet played a game for the Austrian amateur national team. Max Hofmeister played in all four Austrian games in Berlin on the left runner position and reached the Olympic final with the team, where they lost 2-1 to the Italian representatives after extra time . In the spring of 1940 he moved from Donawitz to Salzburger Austria . He worked there up to and including the 1945/46 season.

In the years after the Second World War , Hofmeister played at SK Hertha Wels before ending his career as a player-coach at ATSV Sattledt .
