Max Levchin ( Ukrainian Максиміліан Рафаельович Левчин Maksymilian Rafaeljowytsch Levchyn ; * 1975 in Kiev , Ukrainian SSR ) is an American IT specialist and co-founder and former CTO of PayPal .

Life

After his childhood and youth in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Levchin emigrated to Chicago in 1991 and studied computer science at the University of Illinois .

In 2002 he went online with PayPal, in 2005 he founded Slide and Yelp . In August 2011 it was announced that Levchin will leave Google as Slide will no longer play a role in Google's further planning.

Levchin continues to co producer of the film Thank You for Smoking .

His book The Blueprint, written together with Peter Thiel and Garri Kasparow and published in 2012, diagnoses a stagnation in technological progress and calls for more extensive investments in research and development in order to increase global prosperity.
