Max Oehler (painter)

Max Oehler (born September 14, 1881 in Eisenach , † September 17, 1943 in Weimar ) was a Thuringian painter who created numerous landscape pictures and views of historical buildings.

Life

Max Oehler was born in Eisenach in 1881. He died in Weimar in 1943. The painter Max Oehler should not be confused with the archivist of the same name at the Nietzsche Archive , who also worked in Weimar.

More than 700 works by Oehler, mainly oil paintings and ink drawings, are known today. However, it is estimated that he created around 2000 artistic works. Oehler was particularly committed to the genre of landscape painting. He received his training at the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School Weimar a . a. in the master class of Prof. Hans Olde .
