Max Pauli
Max Pauli ( August 7, 1864 in Berlin - after 1929 ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ) and singing teacher .
Life
When the son of a dance teacher began to sing in a club, he was generally made aware of his pretty voice and induced to have it trained. Pauli took lessons from director Scherhey and began his stage career in 1891 at the Krollschen Theater in Berlin, where he made his debut as "Fenton". He was a summer guest there for three years and worked in the winter months of 1892 and 1893 at the city theater in Lübeck. In 1894 he came to Düsseldorf (inaugural role “Tamino”), in 1896 to the Stadttheater Nürnberg (inaugural role “Lyonel”) and in 1900, after successfully completing a guest performance, joined the Association of the Karlsruhe Court Theater, where he remained until 1906, after which he went to Cologne.
He was a member of the Cologne Opera House until 1914, but still performed there on occasion until 1921. Until the end of the 1920s he can still be verified as a singing teacher, after which his trace is lost.
