The Mayener Volksbank is the first cooperative bank in the Vulkaneifel to call itself the Volksbank . Another cooperative bank in the region was, for example, the Burgbrohler Loan Fund Association (founded in 1869).

After its expansion through mergers in the course of the 20th century, the name was changed to Volksbank Mayen-Mendig in 1986 . In 2001, after the merger with Raiffeisenbank Kelberg, the name was changed to Volksbank Vulkaneifel .

In 2002 the Volksbank Vulkaneifel merged with the Volksbank Rein-Ahr , today's Volksbank RheinAhrEifel . In addition to the headquarters of the cooperative in Bad Neuenahr , Mayen is the administrative headquarters of Volksbank RheinAhrEifel with over 100 employees.

In September 2017, after extensive construction work, the administrative headquarters in Mayen (St.-Veit-Straße 6-10) was reopened. It consists of a new building into which a listed building facade from the beginning of the 20th century was integrated.
