The Mayser GmbH & Co. KG is a company headquartered in Lindenberg im Allgäu. The company's products are in the areas of security technology , foam technology and molded parts, metal foams and, traditionally, hats .
history
Founded on September 27, 1800 by Leonhard Mayser as "Hutmacherey Mayser" in Ulm , the company developed into a hat manufacturer with several production facilities in Germany. It was founded during a troubled time, the siege of Ulm by Napoleon, but this did not stop the company's rapid development. In 1858, Friedrich Mayser, Leonhard Mayser's son, dared to take the big step in the direction of machine production and not only found friends with this decision. By replacing centuries of craftsmanship with machinery, he advanced the modernization of the company and was thus largely responsible for the industrialization of Ulm.
With the rise to the largest hat factory in Germany, Mayser was converted into an AG in 1886, and then into a GmbH in 1914 with the participation of the Munich hat manufacturer Anton Seidl. By introducing women's hat production (1924) and taking over the rival company Milz in Lindenberg (1929), Anton Seidl succeeded in further increasing production and employing 2,500 people at Mayser in the early 1930s.
In 1970 the knitwear division was established and managed until 1998. This was followed by the development of the foam technology (1971), deformation technology (1973) and safety technology (1978) business areas.
In terms of sales and employees, security technology is the largest corporate division today.
