MazaCAM is a commercial software for programming and managing CNC -controlled cutting machines from the Japanese company Yamazaki Mazak . However, it can also create programs for other machines with G-code or DIN / ISO control. MazaCAM was developed by SolutionWare Corporation with headquarters in San José , California , USA .
Functional scope and area of application
MazaCAM can create Mazatrol programs in a number of ways. Programs can be created and edited both in the Mazatrol Editor and on the PC. In addition, it is possible to program in a CAD / CAM system that supports Mazatrol output for all Mazak controls. The CAD / CAM system always includes a CAD import for the Mazatrol Editor. MazaCAM includes the machining processes milling and turning for Mazak CNC machines. Lathes with driven tools and multi-function machines from the Mazak Integrex and Variaxis series are also supported. In addition, functions are supported that normal Mazatrol programming does not offer; this includes thread milling , engraving and 3D milling. For this purpose, MazaCAM uses a so-called manual process under Mazatrol; this simulates a G-code program within the Mazatrol user interface. The functions of MazaCAM range from data transfer and program creation in the Mazatrol Editor to program creation in the CAD / CAM system, with output in Mazatrol or G-Code. Another important main function of MazaCAM is the conversion between and among the different Mazatrol control generations. This function allows the user e.g. B. to use Mazatrol programs of newer Mazak generations on older machines, which is otherwise not possible with Mazak machines. The MazaCAM software is divided into different modules to meet the needs of the user.
- MazaCAM DNC enables data transfer and data management from a Mazak or G-Code CNC machine to a PC and vice versa.
- MazaCAM Editor enables new Mazatrol programs for Mazak machines to be created on a PC or to edit existing programs.
- Convert MazaCAM Mazak controls enables the user to convert the CNC programs of his Mazak machines across generations.
- MazaCAM CAD / CAM allows the user to import CAD data (such as DXF , STEP or IGES ) and to use them to create Mazatrol as well as G-code and DIN / ISO programs in a CAM system.
- MazaCAM CAD import allows the user to write Mazatrol programs in the MazaCAM editor and to use CAD data to help import contours and points.
The idea and story behind MazaCAM
SolutionWare Corporation has been manufacturing CAD / CAM software for metal cutting machines since 1975. It all started with a CAM software to create G-Code DIN / ISO-CNC programs for the controls common at the time. When Mazak brought the world's first CNC dialog control onto the market in 1981, suddenly this type of CNC control could no longer be programmed in a CAM system or in a normal text editor on the PC. That was the hour of birth of MazaCAM. SolutionWare had set itself the goal of creating a way to create CNC programs for the Mazatrol CNC control from a PC. The MazaCAM editor was developed. At the same time, they wanted to create a way of being able to include a CAM system for this type of programming. The existing CAD / CAM system GeoPath was linked to this newly developed Mazatrol Editor and it was possible to use CAD data for Mazatrol programming without having to switch to DIN ISO programs. Of course, the ability to create G-code was retained. Mazak has been bringing new generations of its controls and machines to the market on a regular basis since 1981. As a result, a function for converting between the control types was developed for MazaCAM, since the individual Mazatrol generations are not compatible with each other. To this day MazaCAM is constantly being developed and with several thousand licenses worldwide it is the most technologically advanced PC Mazatrol programming system.

Since the end of 2011, MazaCAM has also been available through a sales partner in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . The company MAZ-AC: MazaCAM Germany has taken over the sales and support for the MazaCAM software.
