Mazen Dana

Mazen Dana (* 1962 , † August 17, 2003 in Baghdad ) was an Iraqi cameraman for the Reuters news agency . He was married and has four children.

On May 15, 2001, while filming Palestinian demonstrators , he was shot in the leg by Israeli troops from a distance of about 40 meters. Dana then sought refuge behind a steel door, which was then hit by a hail of bullets.

Dana, who was wounded several times, received the International Press Freedom Award in 2001 for his reporting in Palestine .

Mazen Dana died on August 17, 2003 when American occupation forces were shot in Iraq .
